Happy 4th of July!

So what's a Rube Goldberg machine you ask...

From Wiki: "A Rube Goldberg machine is a deliberately overengineered apparatus that performs a very simple task in very indirect and convoluted fashion."

Think of the game Mouse Trap.

Ferris Bueller, the Dark Side

Brilliantly shows how music and editing contribute to the mood of a movie...

Bush Countdown...244 days left

I liked this guy early on...

but he never had enough backing to really make a go of it (and there's too much at stake in this election to vote for him on principle). In March, he switched parties (from Democrat to Libertarian). Here's his take on the issues, and here's one of his campaign videos:

Gotta love a guy with a sense of humor.

Hillary Death Watch

It's time for her to go. As I read somewhere today, she's like the drunk girl at the party, being obnoxious, talking loudly, and she has no idea that everybody wants her to leave. It's time to take away her keys and escort her home.

Happiness by Goldfrapp

Another cool video. Why?  It's done in one take. Pretty impressive. Even more so when you consider the shots with kids, bikes, dogs. (Really, it's an homage to Bobby Van in "Small Town Girl," which can be seen here.)

Renaming Wrigley Field?!?

I am not much of a Cubs fan, but renaming Wrigley Field? It's just wrong...

This one was my favorite from the Sun-Times contest.

Obama on Race

He could have taken the easy way out--the politically astute way--denounce his pastor and hope it goes away. Instead, he made the difficult and politically risky choice of discussing race, his pastor, and his beliefs openly. How refreshing.

Go Obama!

Another video that I like...

I get a short email everyday called VSL (Very Short List). Everyday it gives me a little something interesting to look at/read/listen to. I really liked this one...
